L. Rosado Found Guilty of Murder

May 13, 2026 Press Releases

Pittsfield, MA-On Tuesday, May 12th in Berkshire Superior Court a jury found Luis A. Rosado (53 years old: North Adams) guilty of Murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The Defendant murdered Jillian Tatro (38 years old at time of death: 46 Charles Street, North Adams) on May 28, 2022.

Mr. Rosado and Ms. Tatro had been in a romantic relationship beginning in September 2021 and were later married on January 3, 2022. On the evening of May 28, 2022, Mr. Rosado and Ms. Tatro went to her apartment at 46 Charles Street, North Adams. She lived on the second floor of the building. A neighbor on the first-floor reported hearing both Mr. Rosado and Ms. Tatro in their second-floor apartment prior to leaving for her (the neighbor) work around 10:15pm. At approximately 10:42pm Ms. Tatro’s son arrived outside the 46 Charles Street apartment building. Upon his arrival, he observed Mr. Rosado leaving the apartment. Mr. Rosado told Ms. Tatro’s son that his mother had left the apartment with a friend. Both men then left the area of the apartment.

On Sunday, May 29th a North Adams police officer was dispatched to 46 Charles Street at approximately 7:54pm for a report of a possible unattended death. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with Ms. Tatro’s son who said he just went into his mother’s apartment after not being able to get in contact with her and that she was dead. Law enforcement entered the apartment and observed Ms. Tatro lying on her back near the entryway. It was evident that she had suffered from some type of stab wound. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later determined that she had been stabbed ten times, slashed six times, and suffered blunt trauma to her head.

Using evidence collected from the scene, cell phone extractions, and witness interviews, law enforcement determined that Mr. Rosado murdered Ms. Tatro between 10:15pm and 10:42pm on May 28th. The investigation also revealed that domestic violence was a longstanding factor in Mr. Rosado and Ms. Tatro’s relationship.

“Today, my thoughts are with Ms. Tatro’s children and family. Ms. Tatro’s son demonstrated tremendous poise and courage during his testimony in the trial.” District Attorney Shugrue continued, “Ms. Tatro was a victim of domestic violence. The most dangerous time in a victim of domestic violence life is when they are prepared to leave. We know that Jillian was planning to leave on the Tuesday following her murder. Her death is a tragic example of lethal consequence of domestic violence and the lasting impact these crimes have on families and communities.”

Second Assistant District Attorney Joseph Yorlano and Assistant District Attorney Amy Winston represented the commonwealth. Associate Director of Victim Witness Advocates Kristen Rapkowicz served as the advocate on behalf of the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office. Heather Bates served as the District Attorney’s Office media specialist throughout the trial.

Law Enforcement on the cased included the North Adams Police Department, the Pittsfield Police Department, the Berkshire State Police Detective Unit assigned the Berkshire district Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner
