Berkshire District Courts

Berkshire County has three district courts in North Adams, Pittsfield, and Great Barrington. These are known as the Northern, Central and Southern Berkshire District Courts, respectively. District courts are considered the gateway to the criminal justice system because the vast majority of criminal cases are heard in the district courts.  The courts hear misdemeanor and some felony cases, including motor vehicle, drug, larceny, and assault cases.  Restraining orders and harassment prevention orders are also heard and issued in the district courts.
