Over the past month over $37,000 of product has been stolen in four separate incidents from Ulta Beauty located in Berkshire Crossing. Employees have reported that in these incidents the suspects have driven away in a car with New York plates.
Last evening (3/27/23) police arrested four individuals, two adults and two juveniles following a car stop in front of 875 Dalton Avenue, Pittsfield. The stop was made based on a call from Ulta Beauty employees to the Pittsfield Police Department reporting thefts that had just occurred. In this call, Ulta employees described a car fleeing the scene that matched the car stopped at 875 Dalton Avenue.
At the stop a Pittsfield Police Officer saw a reusable shopping bag full of perfumes and colognes in plain sight. Concurrently a Pittsfield Police Officer was at Ulta Beauty viewing the surveillance footage. Two individuals obtained at the stop matched the description of the surveillance footage from Ulta. At this time the four individuals were arrested: Raquan Carter (2/24/2001), Jonneasia Welcome (8/8/2003) and two juveniles all of the Albany, N.Y. area. Upon the arrest, 39 bottles of perfume and cologne, worth $5,145, were removed from the vehicle.
Later that evening, the Clerk of Courts released the defendants on personal recognizance. On Tuesday, March 28th the defendants failed to appear in Pittsfield District Court. A warrant has been issued for their arrest.
Jonneasia Welcome of Albany, N.Y. has been charged with Organized Retail Crime and Larceny over $1,200. Raquan Carter of Albany, N.Y. has been charged with Organized Retail Crime, Receiving Stolen Property Over $1,200 and Possession of open Marijuana in MV.
The case remains an ongoing investigation. Pittsfield Police Detective Anthony Dayton is investigating the case.
