On June 8th, Antonio Laboy was arraigned in Berkshire Superior Court on June 8th for possession of heroin with intent to distribute, subsequent offense and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, subsequent offense.
Laboy was present during the execution of a search warrant on a North Adams residence that is a part of an active investigation for narcotics distribution. Further investigation, in combination with items sized during the search of the residence, showed Laboy was a participant in the narcotics distribution.
District Attorney Shugrue highlighted the pattern within the last month of large quantities of drugs, some already prepared for distribution, flowing from Springfield to North Adams. [Referring to Antonio Vega’s arraignment for charges of trafficking cocaine and heroin that occurred on May 24, 2023. Vega’s identified residential address is in Springfield, MA.]
Shugrue stated, “We must work to strangulate the routes drug traffickers are using to transport drugs from Springfield to Berkshire County. While I have already committed to prosecuting those bringing large quantities of drugs into our county to the fullest extent of the law, I am also activity identifying grants that will support the investigations of the State Police Detective Unit and local law enforcement. We must proactively address this problem.”
The Commonwealth requested Mr. Laboy be held on $25,000 bail. The Honorable Judge Flannery set bail at $15,000. Laboy has since posted bail.
Assistant District Attorney Rachel Eramo represented the Commonwealth.
