
North Adams, MA-On Tuesday, May 12th, David Louis Boucher (48 years old) was arraigned in Northern Berkshire District Court for one count of murder. He is accused of murdering his father, David Allen Boucher (67 years old: 258 Walnut Street). [256/258 Walnut Street is a multi-unit residence in a single house.] The Defendant is being held without a right to bail.
On Monday, May 11th, at approximately 11:49 am David Louis Boucher (48 years old) walked into the North Adams Police Department and stated that he killed his father. North Adams Police contacted the Berkshire State Police Detective Unit shortly after 12:00 pm. Both agencies responded to the scene. Upon arrival, police discovered the decedent in his apartment. Police secured the scene pending a search warrant.
Late Monday evening, law enforcement executed a search warrant for 256 and 258 Walnut Street. Early evidence shows that the Defendant physically assaulted his father inside the 258 apartment and stabbed him multiple times with a sharp force object/s. Additionally, based on initial evidence including the state of the body and statements made by the Defendant, it is believed that D.L Boucher killed his father about a week prior to his confession to police.
The investigation remains in its early stages. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner took custody of the body. Law enforcement involved in the investigation include the North Adams Police Department; the Berkshire State Police Detective Unit; Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section; and the Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory.
The Defendant is being held at the Berkshire County House of Correction. His next appearance is scheduled for June 12th in Northern Berkshire District Court.
