The Berkshire District Attorney’s Office seeks to fill a full-time position to join our administrative support team. Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.

MISSION OF THE BERKSHIRE DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE 

Berkshire District Attorney’s Office serves all 32 cities and towns in Berkshire County and is responsible for all-criminal prosecutions in Berkshire County.  The Office handles cases in the County’s District Courts (including Jury sessions), Juvenile Courts, and Superior Court, and is responsible for all appeals to the State Appeals Court and Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.   In addition, the Office provides critical services and programs to victims and their families and to the community at large. The Office is a Commonwealth agency, established in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 12, Sections 12 and 13.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for:
    • Processing discovery/evidence; both digital and paper documents.
    • General clerical duties including, but not limited to, case file management, file maintenance, file retrieval and disposal, photocopying, printing, scanning, mailing, switchboard and reception.
    • Positions may require lateral rotation within the Office to similar positions, based on office needs.

Qualifications Required:

  • Computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Familiar with various software programs for uploading and downloading evidence files.
  • Fulfill the mandatory education and training requirements of the State Ethics Commission
  • Become familiar with and follow the provisions of the Office Personnel Policies, particularly with regard to confidentiality, sexual harassment, drug-free workplace and the usage of information technology resources
  • Participate in training relevant to Office functions
  • Interact in a respectful and professional manner with the public, judicial and law enforcement personnel and office staff
  • Complete work assignments in a timely, accurate and efficient manner
  • High School Graduate or equivalent

All full time positions offer a State benefit package that includes medical/dental/vision insurance, life and disability insurance, retirement plans, and paid vacation, personal and sick leave and paid parental leave. Payroll is paid bi-weekly and based on a 37.5 hour work week (normally 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).  All job offers are contingent upon successful completion of background check. All positions serve at the pleasure of the District Attorney.
