IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST

 

 The Berkshire District Attorney’s Office is currently seeking a full-time IT Support Specialist to join our team. This role is primarily focused on supporting office desktop devices such as workstations, laptops, all-in-one computers, printers, and other peripherals.  Additionally, the IT Support Specialist will also provide essential end-user training and support to ensure our team can work efficiently and effectively.

MISSION OF THE BERKSHIRE DISTRICT ATTORNEY’S OFFICE

Berkshire District Attorney’s office serves all 32 cities and towns in Berkshire County. The office represents the Commonwealth in more than 7,500 criminal cases per year in Berkshire Superior Court, three district courts, three juvenile courts, Massachusetts Appeals Court, and Supreme Judicial Court. The office works closely with the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office, the Berkshire Law Enforcement Task Force, and collaborates with local police departments across the county. A dedicated staff of more than 50 prioritizes public safety, empowering victims and witnesses through services and support, and building a safe community for everyone and especially the most vulnerable.

The Office is responsible for all criminal prosecutions in Berkshire County, covering everything from misdemeanors to major felonies.  The Office handles cases in the County’s District Courts (including Jury sessions), Juvenile Courts, and Superior Court, and is responsible for all appeals to the State Appeals Court and Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court.   In addition, the Office provides critical services and programs to victims and their families and to the community at large. The Office is a Commonwealth agency, established in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 12, Sections 12 and 13.

Exempt: Full-time; 37.5 hours/ week M-F with occasional weekends and evenings

Responsibilities:

The specific tasks for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • User account setup across Active Directory, Exchange Admin Center
  • Training and system support for users on Windows 11, 10 and various desktop applications (Office 365, Adobe Acrobat, and a variety of multimedia readers, players, editors)
  • Purchase support, deployment, and installation of new computer equipment
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network connectivity problems of devices
  • Maintain security through system patching and antivirus maintenance on all systems (Ivanti/Symantec)
  • Build, maintain, and deploy system images for desktops, laptops, and perform hardware diagnostics as needed
  • Assist with network troubleshooting in coordination with LAN/WAN administrators
  • Help with projects including digital document management, file archiving, automated forms
  • Provide courtroom support and help maintain equipment for media presentations with the Communications and Media Specialist
  • Assist staff with virtual meetings via Zoom, Teams, or WebEx
  • Help maintain and update IT documentation and procedures
  • Administrative responsibilities include hardware/software asset management, and IT supplies monitoring and ordering
  • Helping with requests made by the IT Director

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Office365, Active Directory, and networking protocols
  • Experience in multimedia editing is highly desirable and will be considered a strong asset for this role
  • Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team

 

Our professional office is seeking highly reliable applicants with a minimum of 2 years of relevant IT experience and a strong service-oriented work ethic. As communication and interpersonal skills are critical to this position, we require a proven track record in these areas.

While technical industry certifications and/or college degrees are highly valued, they are not essential for applicants who possess a deep understanding of IT systems and a passion for staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.

This position is located in Pittsfield, with travel throughout Berkshire County and the occasional statewide travel required. To meet the demands of this position, candidates must have their own car on a daily basis and be willing to work occasional evenings or weekends. Additionally, the ability to lift, move and carry up to 50 lbs. of equipment may be necessary at times.
