For Immediate Release: Victim ID in Fatal Hit and Run

The victim in Tuesday’s fatal hit and run has been identified as William S. Colbert of Pittsfield (69 years old). Mr. Colbert was struck by a car on Tuesday evening in the Linden Street/Francis Avenue area of Pittsfield. After being struck, he became trapped under the vehicle and was dragged a lengthy distance, ultimately coming to rest on the road around 1350 West Housatonic Street. The driver fled the scene.

Pittsfield Police are actively seeking information about the incident. Police believe the vehicle may have traveled on Linden Street, Robbins Avenue, Daniels Avenue, Columbus Avenue, Onota Street, South Merriam Street and West Housatonic Street. The incident is believed to have occurred around 11:33 PM to 11:49 PM.
