On Wednesday, July 5th, Justin T. Brady (11/5/1975) was arraigned in Berkshire Superior Court in front of the Honorable Judge Agostini. Brady’s last known address was in Pittsfield and shared with the victims in this case. Brady has been living elsewhere after a restraining order kept him away from the Pittsfield residence. In order to protect the victims’ anonymity, Brady’s last known address will not be released.

Brady is being held in the Berkshire House of Corrections without the right to bail pending a hearing on the Commonwealth’s Dangerousness Motion, which will be heard on July 25, 2023. There are two victims in the case: an adult and a young child who the victim shares with Brady.
Between the dates of January 4, 2023, to March 4, 2023, Brady violated a restraining order by sending multiple text messages to the adult victim.
On March 5th, at approximately 9:45pm, a resident on a street neighboring the victims’ street called the Pittsfield Police to report a suspicious person. The resident said there was a man dressed in all black, carrying a flashlight who appeared to be sneaking around the neighborhood. Pittsfield Police responded and located Brady wearing the clothes described and holding a flashlight. Brady admitted to police that he was spying on the adult victim as he believed she was in a romantic relationship with someone else.
On May 9th, at approximately 4:30am, the victim awoke in bed to Brady shinning a flashlight in her face. For two hours, Brady assaulted the adult victim as, and throughout the entire assault, she was attempting to protect and flee with the child victim. Brady’s assault on the adult victim caused serious wounds to her head, including temporary blindness in one eye. Brady physically prevented the victims from leaving the house and ripped the phone from the wall to prevent the adult victim from calling for help. The adult victim was able to get help when later the same morning an unrelated individual entered the victims’ house. The adult victim yelled to the individual to go outside and call for police. Upon arrival, Pittsfield Police found Brady hiding in the victim’s basement.

Victim Witness Advocate and leader of the High Risk Team* Kristen Rapkowicz is serving as an advocate on behalf of the District Attorney’s Office. The Pittsfield Police are the primary law enforcement agency on the case.
*The High Risk Team is a collaboration between law enforcement bodies, the Department of Children and Families, the Elizabeth Freeman Center and other community organizations. The Team’s sole purpose is to identify domestic abusers at the highest risk of lethality and coordinate appropriate responses to protect victims from their abuser.
