Paul Menard Arraigned on Murder in the First Degree

On Friday, November 1st Paul Menard (10/20/1959) was arraigned in Central Berkshire District Court on one count of Murder in the First Degree. Berkshire District Attorney Timothy J. Shugrue represented the Commonwealth. The Defendant was held without the right to bail, without prejudice.

On Thursday, October 31st at approximately 1:45pm the Defendant walked into the State Police Barracks in Cheshire, Massachusetts. Upon entry, he reported he shot and killed his sister at his Windsor, MA residence. At approximately 2:04pm the State Police Responded to the scene and found the deceased Monique Menard (7/11/1962) laying face-down outside of the residence, near her car.

Based on evidence collected at the scene, corroborated with the Defendant’s testimony, the Defendant shot the victim three times: once in her front, once in her back, and once in the back of her head. The Defendant reported using two firearms, after one of the firearms jammed. The Defendant waited 20 minutes prior to driving to the Cheshire Barracks to report the alleged murder and did not call 911.  The Defendant was cooperative with police.  The Defendant does not have an FID card. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner took custody of the decedent.
