Piantoni Pleaded Guilty and Sentenced on Armed Robbery and Assault

On November 20, 2024, Joshua E. Piantoni (North Adams) pleaded guilty to 5 charges including armed robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon. The Defendant was sentenced to up to 7 years in State Prison. Sentencing took place in Berkshire Superior Court. Honorable Judge Agostini presided.

On the morning of September 27, 2023, Piantoni drove a four-wheeler to Cumberland Farms on Route 2 in Williamstown. The Defendant entered the convenience store and pointed a gun at the clerk. Piantoni demanded the clerk hand over money. The clerk handed him $259 and Piantoni fled on his four-wheeler heading towards his home in North Adams. Law enforcement intercepted the Defendant when he was crossing Ashton Avenue. When law enforcement preformed a search of Piantoni’s person, they recovered the stolen money and a BB gun that appeared to be a real gun.

Assistant District Attorney Rachael Eramo represented the Commonwealth. Assistant District Attorney Amy Winston supported. North Adams Police served as the main law enforcement agency on the case.

Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License 10 days in the House of Correction (concurrent with Armed Robbery sentence)
Unregistered Motor Vehicle Placed on file for one day
Operating a Recreational Vehicle on a Public Way Responsible- File
