On the morning of Saturday, September 28th, at approximately 6:44 am a 911 call was placed by a motorist (unrelated to the incident) reporting what appeared to be a person lying on the side of the road at approximately the 4.1 mile marker on Route 102, Stockbridge. When emergency responders arrived at the scene they discovered an unresponsive male on the side of the road. He was pronounced dead shortly after by a paramedic from Lee Ambulance.
Based on evidence recovered from the scene, including parts of a car, it appears this is a hit and run incident. Evidence collection thus far shows the victim was riding an electric scooter when he was struck by a motor vehicle. The motor vehicle that struck the victim fled from the scene.
Immediate emergency response included the Stockbridge Police Department; Stockbridge Fire/EMS; and Lee Ambulance. Additional response included the State Police-Troop B; the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office; the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section; the State Police Cyber Crimes Unit; and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
