Trusted Adults Bill 2026
On 7/24/2026, District Attorney Shugrue attended the landmark signing of the “Trusted Adults Bill” at the Statehouse in Boston. District Attorney Shugrue worked hard and championed for the bill which changes the laws of Massachusetts, making it a crime for a teacher or anyone considered a trusted adult to engage in sexual relations with a minor under the age of 18.
DA Shugrue was in attendance with the Gov. Maura Healey, Senator Joan Lovely, and Representative Leigh Davis in addition to survivors of sexual abuse.
