July trial scheduled for two men charged with drug trafficking

Mar 30, 2023 Press Releases

Two men charged with drug trafficking following the discovery of a large scale cannabis operation in Savoy are scheduled to appear in Superior Court this July.

Deming Wu and Yebin Mai have each been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and trafficking between 100 and but less than 2,000 pounds. A third defendant, Bin Huang accepted a plea deal under the previous District Attorney, Andrea Harrington. Deming Wu and Yebin Mai declined to accept the plea deal at the time it was offered to them.

D.A. Shugrue stated: “Had these defendants been charged under my administration they would never have been offered a plea deal. This is not a minor drug offense case. The three men had every intent to traffic drugs in Berkshire County. Here in Berkshire County, under my administration there is no tolerance for those who choose to bring large quantities of drugs with the intent to distribute.”

If convicted, Wu and Mai could face a mandatory two years and up to fifteen years in the House of Correction.

Assistant District Attorney, Amy Winston is prosecuting the case.
